Everything We Did During Our 3-Night Stay
If you’re looking for a Florida beach vacation that feels relaxed, easy, and family-friendly, South Seas Resort on Captiva Island should absolutely be on your list.
We spent three nights exploring the resort with our boys, and it quickly became one of those vacations where everything felt effortless. Between the golf cart rides, beautiful beaches, multiple pools, incredible dining, and slower pace of island life, it was the perfect place to unplug and spend quality time together.
Here’s everything we did during our stay!
Getting to Captiva Island
We drove from Gainesville, Florida, making Captiva an easy road trip for our family.
One thing to know before you arrive is that Captiva Island is only accessible by driving through Sanibel Island. The drive itself is part of the experience, with beautiful water views before you arrive at South Seas.
Since check-in isn’t until the afternoon, we made a lunch stop at Green Flash before heading to the resort. It was the perfect way to kick off vacation and enjoy waterfront dining before settling in.
Where We Stayed
We stayed in a Two-Bedroom Lands End Villa, and if you’re booking a similar stay, I can’t recommend Unit 1645 enough.
The panoramic waterfront views were incredible, and we loved having plenty of space for our family to spread out after long days at the beach and pool. Waking up to coffee overlooking the golf course and beach each morning was one of my favorite parts of the trip.
The villa also made traveling with kids feel so much easier thanks to the full kitchen, living space, washer and dryer, and multiple bedrooms.
Why We Loved South Seas Resort
What stood out most about South Seas was how easy it made family vacations.
Everything we wanted was within a short golf cart ride.
Instead of constantly packing up the car, we spent our days moving between the beach, pools, restaurants, and our villa without ever leaving the resort.
Our boys loved the freedom of hopping on the golf cart for every adventure, and honestly, so did we.

Our 3 Day Itinerary
Day One
After lunch at Green Flash, we arrived at South Seas for check-in and picked up our resort golf cart before taking a quick tour of the property.
Before dinner, we spent the afternoon swimming at the Bayview Pool Complex, which has always been one of our favorite spots during the trip.
That evening we had dinner at Beach House, where we enjoyed fresh seafood with beautiful waterfront views before ending the night with a walk on the beach at sunset.
Day Two
We started the morning with breakfast at The Clutch before playing a round of mini golf as a family.
From there we checked into our cabana at Captiva Landing, where we spent the afternoon swimming, relaxing, and enjoying lunch from Flippers poolside.
That evening we had dinner at Harborside, followed by ice cream from Scoops & Slices, which was a huge hit with the boys.
Day Three
Our final full day started with breakfast from Provisions before heading to our cabana at the Bayview Pool Complex.
We spent the afternoon swimming, riding the slides, playing bingo by the pool, and enjoying lunch without ever leaving the water.
For our last dinner we ate at Redfish, which was the perfect way to end the trip before chasing one final Captiva sunset.
Favorite Restaurants
One thing we appreciated about South Seas was how many dining options were available right on property.
During our stay we enjoyed:
- Beach House
- The Clutch
- Flippers
- Harborside
- Redfish
- Provisions
- Scoops & Slices
Every restaurant had its own atmosphere, making each meal feel a little different throughout the trip.
Planning Your Stay? Here’s What We’d Recommend
How many nights should you stay?
Three nights felt just right for our family. It gave us enough time to enjoy both pool complexes, try several restaurants, relax at the beach, and never feel rushed.
Which accommodations would you book again?
Without hesitation, we’d book a Two-Bedroom Lands End Villa again. Unit 1645 had incredible panoramic views overlooking the golf course and beach, and the extra space made traveling with kids so much easier.
Is South Seas good for families?
Absolutely. Our boys loved the golf cart rides, pools, water slides, beach, mini golf, bingo, and ice cream each evening. Everything was close together, which made getting around simple and stress-free.
Which pool was your favorite?
We honestly loved both! Bayview Pool was our favorite for water slides, family activities, and spending the entire day relaxing in a cabana. Captiva Landing had a quieter atmosphere that was perfect for slowing down and enjoying the afternoon.
Is the golf cart worth it?
Definitely! One of our favorite parts of the trip was exploring the resort by golf cart. It made getting to breakfast, dinner, the pools, and the beach part of the adventure for the boys.
Would you stay at South Seas again?
Absolutely. South Seas has been special to me for as long as I can remember. I grew up vacationing here with my family, and last summer we brought our boys for the first time. After another incredible stay, it’s safe to say this has officially become one of our family’s annual traditions. There’s something so special about watching my boys make memories in a place that holds so many of my own.
Final Thoughts
I know my boys probably won’t remember every detail of every vacation we take.
But I hope they remember how these trips felt.
Golf cart rides to breakfast.
Long afternoons at the pool.
Ice cream after dinner.
Running barefoot on the beach before sunset.
South Seas gave us the opportunity to slow down, spend time together, and simply enjoy being a family.
Those are the kinds of vacations we’ll keep coming back for.
If you’re planning a trip to Captiva Island, South Seas Resort is absolutely worth considering.
